Yesterday

I was sleepy. Last night I could not sleep. Exhaustion spent the night making shapes under its ghost sheet and now when it raises its arms I am frightened.

I couldn't sleep night before last, so spent some time on the calendar in my phone finding out which day of the week our munchkin's birthdays are on. For example, her 21st is on a thursday, in nineteen and a half years. I made appointments for this milestone, and her 10th, 13th 16th, 18th and 50th. I also made appointments for my parents' 100th birthdays.
If anything this process didn't make me sleepy, just reminded me how fleeting life is when looking at dates like 2057 and working out how old you will be, if you make it that far.

That feels like a glowing light cast out into the future. How fortunate you are to be able to plot out your points of love into something I find dark, mysterious and unplottable.

Whenever I can't sleep, I open my eyes.

That could be part of the problem.

And kind of pointless as I doubt a mobile phone will be lasting that long...

It is the process that matters.

NWJR opening your eyes is not an ideal way to try and sleep.
